Summer time is burger time for me! A nice juicy burger on the BBQ is the best comfort food to enjoy outside. Adding a few toppings of your choice and there’s a delicious summer meal that everyone loves. Although the “typical” burger is made with ground beef, there are other proteins that can be used instead like chicken, lamb, pork, fish or even soybeans or tofu for a veggie burger version.

As a burger lover and a recipe creator, of course I have many burger recipes. So far I’ve shared my Chipotle Stuffed Bronto, Smoky Porky, Mexican, Blue Cheese, Italian with Tomato Slaw, and there are even more to come. In this episode, I have another one to add to the list… my California Burgers!

What an incredible burger! The protein is chicken and as simple as it sounds, the flavors will just blow you away! I use Pepper Jack cheese which gives an amazing flavor to the burger but if you prefer another kind of cheese, by all means, use what you like.

The idea for this California Burger recipe was inspired by a popular American burger chain that David and I like to visit once in a while. It’s the one I always order but after making my own, I’m not too sure if I will order it again. The reason is my version is much tastier than theirs. The added bacon slices makes such a huge difference as well as the cheese. Here’s a great link on how to cook perfect bacon without the mess… Oven Baked Bacon • Best Way to Cook Bacon

In the video, I use Kaiser Buns but I usually prefer serving it with my homemade Hamburger Buns. As a burger aficionado, these hamburger buns elevate the dish with their freshness.

Also another “homemade” ingredient that I use is David’s famous Guacamole. His version is so flavorful! It’s slightly spicier than the traditional “guac” but there’s so much extra flavor in it. This also makes a big impact on this burger… you should definitely try it!

We all have our favorite burgers but it’s nice to change the menu up a little. I’m sure that after you try these yummy California Burgers, you’ll be very happy with the results!
Bon Appétit!
