Without spices, most dishes would be boring. I can’t stand bland food therefore I always season my food with herbs and spices. Throughout the years, I’ve been sharing many of my homemade blends and rubs such as Creole Seasoning Mix, Homemade Old El Paso Taco Seasoning, Za’atar Spice Blend, Fish Rub and many more.

We love barbecuing and years ago, David and I came up with this beautiful recipe… our Smoky BBQ Rub! Like any other blends and rubs, it’s very easy and quick to make. It’s also another smart way to recycle your spices before they go off.

I use this tasty blend when I make my Canadian Smoky Pork Ribs. This Smoky BBQ Rub recipe is only good for 1 rack so if you use 2 racks, you simply have to double it. Although it’s perfect on ribs, we also like to rub it on other proteins like fish, chicken, pork chops, brisket, etc.

I know the stores sell a bunch of them that are not too bad but how fresh are they?
When making this blend from scratch, you know exactly what went in, the freshness of your spices and also, you’re in control of the ingredient amounts as well as the sodium intake – you know too much sodium is not good for us, right?

As I mentioned above, it’s a good way to recycle your spices before they pass their expiration date. Seriously, I’m sure you can find 5 minutes to make this flavorful Smoky BBQ Rub recipe…
