Homemade Tahini
When I open my refrigerator door, there are so many condiments… from ketchup to sauces and everything in between. When someone cooks as much as I do, this is inevitable to have so many of them sitting in the fridge or the pantry. There’s a condiment that I use regularly when I make either Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or African recipes and it is Tahini!
When you need this particular condiment, buying it at the store is ridiculous. They charge us so much money for it and the irony of it is it’s really cheap and easy to make Homemade Tahini. It’s only a fraction of the cost of what you would spend at the store. Also, you know exactly what goes into it… it’s homemade!
To make Homemade Tahini, this is what you need…
– 1 1/3 cups sesame seeds
– 6 tbsp. grapeseed oil or substitute any other flavorless oil such as canola, vegetable or safflower
– 1 small pinch ground Himalayan sea salt (optional)
After you’re done processing, just store it in an airtight container… Voilà! It’s done! It is that simple… This homemade tahini will keep for up to 3 months in the refrigerator.
Take a few minutes and make your own. You’ll save money plus you’ll have Homemade Tahini whenever you need it for your recipes…
Bon Appétit!
I have a few great recipes where I use Tahini and here they are…

and more coming soon…so stay tuned!
