Club Foody Wine Review – December 14th, 2016
With the Holidays coming so quickly, we need a great selection of wines that can please all our invitees. When entertaining a group, it is hard to please all so choosing a wine that can be paired with most foods as well as being delectable on its own is a wise choice. The two chosen wines have great bouquets and are the perfect choice for the Holidays…
From Spain, I’ve selected Torres Viña Esmeralda 2015. Beautiful blend of Muscat and Gewürztraminer grapes, this medium-bodied white has aromas of floral and tropical fruit. Pale yellow in color with flavors of peach, melon and lime with a smooth finish. This interesting Mediterranean wine pairs well with seafood paella, salmon and poultry. To enjoy it as its best, be sure to have it well chilled. This wine can be found at your local wine store for around $14.00.
The red wine I’ve chosen is Sawmill Creek Cabernet Sauvignon – Ontario, Canada. This medium-full bodied red wine is dry and fruity with a hint of oak at the finish. Garnet red in color, with black cherry, currant aroma and flavors, this wine pairs well with beef, lamb, pizza or a cheese tray with crudités. This smooth, easy drinking Cabernet Sauvignon can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of flavorful foods. You can find this wine at your local liquor store for around $8.00.
On behalf of Club Foody, I would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas! I will see you again before the New Year. Until then… Cheers!
