Mistletoe Kiss

We are just a few days away from the end of the year and the beginning of 2017…! There are many parties going on this weekend and if you are hosting one of them, you definitely need something “cool” for your guests. Besides hors d’oeuvres, music, decorations, cute napkins and fancy little hats with noise makers, you still need one more thing to impress your invitees… What about a drink?

For some of you who don’t know me that well, at one point in my life I was a bartender working at night and operating my company during the day time. One thing that I really enjoyed during my bar scene job was to try making new drinks. Back then the word “mixologist” wasn’t used but that was exactly what I was doing. Having a wide selection of different bottles at my disposal was a playground to me. It was my chance to create new cocktails like the featured one… my Mistletoe Kiss!

This Mistletoe Kiss drink can be sipped after-dinner as a digestif or just as a straight shot during your party. The taste of it is so Holiday-ish (if I may) and the layered colors definitely set the tone for the seasons celebrations. It’s the perfect drink to have under the mistletoe to say farewell to 2016 and welcome in the New Year. Of course, I don’t think I need to remind you to drink responsibly.

Thanks to all of you for your lovely support of my new venture in the crazy world of cooking, I would like to wish you a healthy, Happy New Year filled with love, laughter and prosperity… !
Happy New Year!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 ounce grenadine
  • 1/2 ounce green Crème de Menthe
  • 1 ounce Galliano liqueur

Directions

  • In a digestif glass, pour in grenadine.
  • Using the back of a spoon, slowly pour in crème de menthe, slowly lifting the spoon as the liquid fills up. This technique is called “floating”.
  • Repeat the same technique (floating) with the Galliano.
  • This cocktail is great to serve as an after dinner drink or as a Holiday shot.

Notes

Footnote: The measurements are based on the style of glass you see in the video. If you are serving it in a shooter glass or other, you might want to change your measurements for an equal amount of each (measure how many ounces your glass holds and divide by 3). You want to create an even 3 layer look.
