How to Poach & Shred Chicken the Easy Way
Years ago when I wanted to shred chicken after poaching it, I knew I was going to stand up for a while with my two forks, tearing the meat apart. This is how everyone was doing it back then… no easy way out. Since then, kitchen tools and appliances have evolved and most of us now own a few which help improve our busy lives.
When food processors and stand mixers came out, I didn’t know what the big deal was about until my friends started telling me how convenient these appliances were. Many recipes that used to take quite a while to prepare, were much faster when using them. For example; when I made bread at home, kneading took a while and it was a physical task doing it by hand. When David bought me my stand mixer, I was in “baking heaven”. The machine was the one working… not me!
Back to shredded chicken…
When I got my new stand mixer, I started experimenting with it a lot including shredding. In this video, I’ll show you my little trick on How to Poach & Shred Chicken the Easy Way! It is quite impressive to see just how fast you’ll be done prepping the chicken from start to finish.
Here are some point that you should be aware of before starting the process…
– If you are poaching skinless boneless chicken breasts, simmer them for 20-25 minutes.
– If you are poaching skinless boneless chicken breasts and cut them in half, reduce your simmering time down to 15-20 minutes.
– If you are poaching chicken with skin and bone, increase your simmering time up to 30-35 minutes.
Keep in mind that time may vary depending on the size of the chicken breasts.
