Ingredients

  • 750 grams (1 1/2 lbs.) lean ground beef
  • ground Himalayan pink salt, to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 1/2 tbsp. steak seasoning of your choice optional
  • canola oil, as needed to BBQ grates tips & tricks
  • 8 slices processed cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns see Recipe
  • 1 cup Classic Burger Sauce see Recipe
  • 4 Boston lettuce leaves (substitute iceberg)
  • 4 slices beefsteak tomato
  • Bread & Butter Pickles, as needed see Recipe
  • 12 red onion rings, or as needed tips & tricks

Directions

  • Generously season meat with salt and pepper; add steak seasoning if you go for it. Mix well and form 4 equal patties.
  • Cover with plastic wrap, and transfer to the fridge for at least 2 hours and up to 8 hours.
  • A few hours later, take the patties out of the fridge and let them get to room temperature.
  • Using tongs and a paper towel, oil grates with canola oil and bring the BBQ temperature between 500ºF to 550ºF.
  • Place patties on the oiled grates, close the lid and grill them about 6 to 7 minutes per side for medium-rare or 8 to 9 minutes for medium.
  • About three minutes before they’re done, place hamburger buns on the upper rack and top the patties with a couple slices of cheese. Close the lid and continue cooking until time is up.
  • To assemble…
Spoon Classic Burger Sauce on the bottom and top of toasted hamburger buns. From the bottom up, place lettuce, a slice of tomato and patty – add another patty for a double cheeseburger.
  • Place Bread & Butter Pickles on top of patty as well as red onion rings before putting the top buns.
