- 1 tbsp. canola oil tips & tricks
- 1 cup green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup carrots, julienned tips & tricks
- 1 1/2 tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp. Chinese brown sugar (substitute brown sugar)
- 1 lb. lean ground pork
- 4 large thinly sliced green onions, whites and greens separated
- 2 large cloves garlic, pressed
- 1 tbsp. ginger, minced
- 1/4 tsp. Chinese 5 Spice
- freshly ground mixed peppercorns, to taste
- 2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp. oyster sauce
- 1 tsp. sesame oil tips & tricks

- 1 tbsp. fresh chopped cilantro, for garnish tips & tricks
- 1 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
In a large skillet over medium heat, add canola oil and when hot, add both cabbage and carrots; sauté for 2 minutes. Add soy sauce and brown sugar; cook for 2 minutes.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cabbage mixture to a large bowl and set aside.
Add ground pork to the skillet and cook halfway, breaking down the meat into small pieces - if not using lean, drain any extra fat.
Add white parts of green onions, garlic, ginger, Chinese 5 Spice, and freshly ground mixed peppercorns; cook until the meat is done.
Add hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well making sure the meat is well coated before returning the cabbage mixture. Cook for 1:30 to 2 minutes. Spoon mixture into warm bowls over cooked rice and garnish with green parts of green onions, cilantro and toasted sesame seeds.
