Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, and more to grease the dish tips & tricks
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup or golden syrup see Recipe
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. ground Himalayan sea salt
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 8 cups puffed wheat cereal

Directions

  • Generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, add butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, cocoa powder and salt. Stir until everything is well combined. When it starts simmering, let it bubble for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and add vanilla; stir well. Add the cereal and stir until evenly coated.
  • Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press down evenly using a spatula or place parchment paper on top; remove the paper and discard it.
  • Let it sit at room temperature until completely cool, about 1 ½ to 2 hours. Cut into squares and serve.
