  • 2 large cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning see Recipe
  • 1/4 tsp. ground Himalayan sea salt, or to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 4 large hamburger buns see Recipe

TOMATO SLAW

  • 1 large Roma tomato, washed, seeded and finely diced
  • 1 large pepperoncini pepper, seeded and finely diced
  • 1 tbsp. fresh basil, chiffonade tips & tricks
  • 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil tips & tricks
  • 1/2 tsp. good quality balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. ground Himalayan sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper, or to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)

Directions

BURGERS

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, hot Italian ground sausage, breadcrumbs, onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper; mix well.
  • Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and form patties.
  • Place them on a plate, cover with plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.
  • When the chilling time is up, take the patties out and let them rest on the counter while making the slaw.
  • Preheat the barbecue to 500ºF.
  • Place the patties on the grill, close the lid and cook 5 to 6 minutes per side, flipping once.
  • About 2 to 3 minutes before the cooking time is done, place hamburger buns on the top grill as well as adding a couple of slices of cheese per patty.
  • Just before serving, scoop a good amount of tomato slaw on top of the burger.

TOMATO SLAW

  • In a small bowl, combine tomato, pepperoncini, basil, oil, vinegar, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper; stir well and set aside.
