- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 cup white onions, finely diced
- 1 tsp. ground Himalayan pink salt, divided
- 3 large cloves garlic, pressed
- 2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup dark molasses tips & tricks
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp. yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tbsp. freshly ground black pepper (I always use mixed peppercorns)
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
When it’s starts sizzling, add white onions, season with ground sea salt and cook until softened, about 5 minutes, stirring often.
To this, add pressed garlic and quickly sauté for 1 minute.
Add the remaining ingredients, stir to blend, increase the heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
When time is up, remove from the heat and cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Yields 3 cups.
