March is a month of “hope”! We all know winter is on its way out and we are all looking forward to nicer, warmer weather! St. Patrick’s Day celebration is next week followed by spring which brings in a new season. Meanwhile, let’s open a couple of nice bottles of wine. In this wine review, I’ve selected two wines that pair well with a wide variety of foods…

The white wine I’ve chosen for you today is Fetzer Valley Oaks Pinot Grigio – California.
This light to medium-bodied Pinot Grigio has flavors of apple, pear and orange-citrus notes with hints of mango and pineapple on the nose. Crisp and well balanced, this wine is great with seafood, chicken or salad. As with most Pinot Grigios, this wine is also nice on its own. It can be found at your local liquor store for around $12.99.

For our red wine, I’ve selected Peter Lehmann Clancys, Cabernet Shiraz Merlot South Australia. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot from South Australia’s Barossa Valley, this wine has its distinct characteristics from this part of the globe. Deep cherry red in color with flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum with vanilla and oak in the background. This Medium to Full-bodied red has a rich texture and long flavorful finish and can be enjoyed with pizza, pasta or roast chicken. You can find this wine at your local liquor store for around $18.00

Spring is on the horizon, hopefully the month of March won’t be too harsh and we’ll soon be enjoying much warmer weather. In the interim, enjoy these two selected wines… Cheers!
