Spring is here which means BBQ season is just around the corner and also means more outdoor gatherings with friends and family. With that in mind, we thought we would share a couple of great California wines with you.

Blackstone MerlotBlackstone Winemakers Select Merlot 2012 comes to you from the Blackstone Winery in the Sonoma region of California and is made from a combination of Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Tannat and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. This wine is a medium bodied, smooth, easy-drinking red with aromas of plum, vanilla and spice.

Upon tasting, you are welcomed with flavors of blackberry, cherry, raspberry and dark chocolate. It pairs well with grilled steaks, pork chops and lasagna. This wine is available for about $15.95 at select wine stores and merchants across Canada.

While out celebrating a recent birthday, we decided to try Beringer’s California Collection Pinot Grigio 2014, and were pleasantly surprised. Beringer VineyBeringer Pinot Grigioards is located in Napa Valley which is the oldest continuously operating winery in the region and 2016 marks their 140th harvest.
This is a refreshing light bodied wine with aromas and flavors of melon, citrus fruits and a hint of peach. It is the perfect wine to pair with light meals such as a nice summer salad, salmon or grilled chicken.

This Pinot Grigio is delectably light and is a great wine to sip during hot summer days on the patio with friends. There’s another upcoming birthday which is mine and I will definitely have a glass or two of this excellent Pinot Grigio. This wine is available at most wine stores for around $11.00.
